Decatur, Georgia – “Experience the Beacon Hill Black Alliance for Human Rights and the City of Decatur’s Second Annual Pan African Festival, this Saturday, August 20, 2022, 10am-10pm,” says Co-Chair & Producer Phil Cuffey. “We have a new stage and sound system this year to ensure an experience which will inform and inspire the entire family!”
The Beacon Hill Black Alliance For Human Rights will host its 2nd Annual Pan African Festival in downtown Decatur, GA., with V103’s Osei “The Dark Secret” as the host and Giwayen Mata returning as opening act to perform. The free arts and cultural festival is open to the public, and includes: A teen “kick-back” set; film and panel discussion; Children’s Village, and an African Market Place. There will be musical performances by Mausiki Scales and the Common Ground Collective, DJ EmpLove, DJ Naka, Ras Kofi Da Farmah, DJ Kemit and hip hop & spoken word artists from the Young Creators of The Black Man Lab’s We Need You album.
“Beacon Hill’s Pan African Festival will be a celebration of the African diaspora,” says Fonta High, Co-Producer of the Pan African Festival. “We are excited about adding a film showcase, an African marketplace, and Children’s Village to this year’s event. You do not want to miss the vendors, art, beautiful culture, great food, good music, and innovators.”
The Pan African Festival is highly anticipated. Civil Rights Attorney, Activist, Author Mawuli Davis, a Decatur resident, is also Co-Chair of the Pan African Festival, and stated, “Beacon Hill Black Alliance for Human Rights mission is to empower, advocate, educate, and organize people of African descent affected by systemic racism and oppression on issues of equity in education, housing, and the legal system in the city of Decatur and surrounding communities.”
